A life cycle energy comparison between four types of houses has been carried out. Annual operational electricity demand of typical houses can be reduced by 37%. Net zero energy house offers 86% primary energy savings over a typical house. Energy plus house has the potential to export 7450 kWh of electricity, each year. In a life cycle perspective, energy plus house becomes energy neutral in 16 years.
