Synthesis and tribological properties of high purity Ti2SC nanolamellas by microwave hybrid heating

A mixture of TiS2/Ti/C powders using Al as an additive was heated to obtain Ti2SC. Nearly pure Ti2SC powder was synthesized by microwave hybrid heating. By comparison, the present synthesis temperature of Ti2SC decreased by 550 °C. The tribological properties of Ti2SC as additives in base oil were first evaluated. Ti2SC as an additive in base oil showed excellent tribological properties.
