This may be the first report that TSC1 and TSC2 are involved in lung fibroblasts activation and fibrogenesis. MeCP2 can reduces TSC1 and TSC2 expression through DNA methylation. Repression of TSC1 and TSC2 mediated by MeCP2 regulates HELF cell differentiation and proliferation as myofibroblasts.
