Bivalve growth responses to ocean acidification and warming are species-specific. Na/Cashell in mussels increases with seawater pH, whereas in scallops not. Na/Cashell could be a proxy for acid-base and ionic regulation at the calcifying front. Combined growth and geochemical analyses shed light on biomineralization processes.
