Polarization currents in illite were measured in the temperature range 450–1200 °C. K+, H+ and OH– ions are dominant charge carriers in polarization currents. Temperature dependences of currents I0 and I∞ are Arrhenius-like above 550 °C. Shape of polarization currents curves indicates on several polarization mechanisms. Polarization is a long-lasting process also at high temperatures.
