An iridovirus, isolated from nodules of black rockfish infected Lymphocystis disease, named LCDV-ss.
H&E staining showed that the nodules were composed of encapsulated hypertrophied cells.
Using electron microscopy, virus particles with a diameter of 200 nm and with hexagonal profiles were observed.
Phylogenetic analysis based on MCP and DNA pol revealed that LCDV-ss was closely related to LCDV-C.
The paper provided the molecular evidence that LCDV-ss was a novel emerging iridovirus pathogen in black rockfish culture.
