We reveal a dose–response relationship for metal bioaccumulation in shrimp. We estimate the current risk and the daily metal uptake rate. Tissue concentrations reaching the legal limits for human consumption were predicted. Metal incorporation rates during asymptotic growth up decrease with age. This pattern mitigates the high initial concentrations observed for juveniles.
