Thermodynamic and kinetic constraints of metal-mediated oxygen-atom abstraction from CO2 will be discussed. Mechanisms of hydride transfer in the conversion of carbon dioxide to formate are presented. Coupling of carbon dioxide with methane: a real challenge to achieve – but how to succeed?
