Antarctic Polar Front appears to be a biogeographical boundary for P. papua. Antarctic Circumpolar Current might not play a role in the dispersal of contemporary P. papua. Antarctic Circumpolar Current might have been important in the colonization history of P. papua. Four different lineages have been detected for Pygoscelis papua. Species taxonomy should be reviewed.
