Bilobalide abates inflammation, insulin resistance and secretion of angiogenic factors induced by hypoxia in 3T3-L1 adipocytes by controlling NF-κB and JNK activation
Hypoxia induces the secretion of inflammatory cytokines in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Upregulation of cytokines leads to activation of JNK and NF-κB signalling. Inhibitory phosphorylation of IRS-1 by JNK and NF-κB activation induces insulin resistance. Hypoxia also induces release of angiogenic factors. Bilobalide dose dependently protect hypoxia induced inflammation and insulin resistance.
