Shear buckling of plates and thin-walled channel sections with holes

A buckling analysis on channel sections with holes in shear is performed using Spline Finite Strip Method. The effect of different hole shapes and sizes on the shear buckling capacity of channels is investigated. The Spline Finite Strip Method results are benchmarked against Finite Element Method results. The design equations are proposed to determine the shear buckling capacity of channels with holes. Design example is provided for design purposes.
