A new formulation of the ASBM is developed that exhibits three defining characteristics. The first is a near-wall correction that is segregated from the homogeneous component of the model. The second involves fully-explicit equations that replace the original implicit formulation of the model. Finally, the last defining characteristic consists of an improved coupling of the ASBM with turbulent transport equations.
