Ocean Bottom Seismographs (OBS) are relatively commonly used in scientific lithospheric investigations in many parts of the world. To elucidate limitations of OBSs for use in prospecting, an extensive experiment, deploying 27 three-component OBSs, was conducted in the central and northern part of the Voring basin, in an area where no boreholes have been drilled. The present paper focuses upon the acquisition of the OBS data, but some results from the modelling of the regional data are also presented.
