Blueberry plant NPP was 523 g C m− 2 yr− 1. Forty-four percent of blueberry NPP was sequestered in woody biomass. Nine-year-old fields, including soil and cover crop, sequester up to 101 t C ha− 1. Organic matter amendment at planting influenced carbon stocks nine years later. Globally, we estimated that 7.8 Tg C are sequestered in blueberry fields.
