Modelling of LEG tilting pad journal bearings with active lubrication

A novel active bearing design is proposed, based on the LEG TPJB ge-ometry and oil supply flow regulation via servovalves. A mathematical model is developed, enabling to predict the steady state and dynamic characteristics of the active bearing. The mathematical model is validated by means of benchmarking CFD calculations and literature results. The model results depict the viability of the proposed active bearing de-sign.
