The metamagnetic transition was observed for H//a-axis at at 4.2 K in TmCu₂ with the orthorhombic crystal structure. The magnetization for H//a,M_a changes into M_c after the metamagnetic transition. We confirmed by measuring the magnetostriction that the present field-induced magnetic-axis conversion is related to the quadrupole moment and induces expansion along the c-axis and shrinkage along the a-axis.
