A diffusion model in spherical geometry explains the main features of lunar seismogram envelopes. Seismic scattering and absorption profiles are obtained for the Moon. The base of the megaregolith is identified as a sharp contrast in seismic properties at approx. 100 km depth. Shallow moonquakes are found to originate from 50 km ± 20 km depth.
