Pollution history of Hg was reconstructed in Shanghai. STIRPAT model was used to analyze impact factors of Hg accumulation in sediment. Coal consumption was the predominated driver for Hg accumulation in Shanghai. Urbanization rate and proportion of heavy industry were the other two main factors.
