Folate levels were estimated in red ripe fruits of more than 100 tomato accessions.

The folate content in red ripe fruits ranged from 14 to 46 μg/100 g FW.

In most tomato accessions folate level declined during transition from mature green to red ripe fruits.

Several accessions showed SNPs in key regulatory genes of folate pathway.

The variations in folate level in tomato accessions were not commensurate with SNPs in folate biosynthesis genes.
