The origin of polycrystalline diamond aggregates is poorly understood. The results of a study of polycrystalline diamonds from the Mir pipe are presented. Heterogeneous distribution of major and trace elements among garnet inclusions is observed. Effects of mantle metasomatism and rapid crystallization are detected.
