We studied heart rate fluctuations (HRF) during endotoxemia in a rodent model.
Endotoxemia produces lethargy, tachycardia, more regular and anticorrelated HRF.
A single dose of exogenous oxytocin does not modify by itself the HRF.
Oxytocin reduces lethargy, heart rate and anticorrelation in HRF during endotoxemia.
Oxytocin moderates the magnitude and duration of the LPS-induced hyperthermia.
