B. licheniformis 421 grows on hydrocarbon and produces lichenysin G. The interfacial tension (IFT) was reduced when bacteria were grown on hydrocarbon. Emulsions were formed when bacteria were grown on hydrocarbon. Emulsion formation and IFT reduction are important mechanisms for MEOR.
