This paper reviews evidence that the following are axillary overtreatment: Axillary dissection when sentinel node involvement is micrometastatic. Axillary dissection when sentinel node involvement is limited macrometastatic. Axillary dissection after neoadjuvant treatment downstages to cN0. Sentinel node biopsy when the cancer is small and the axilla is ultrasound-negative.
