Eight best practice guidelines for debrief in simulation-based learning were established. No statistical difference in effectiveness between video-assisted and facilitator-only debrief. The debrief needs to be structured and performed at the end of the simulation. There is a need for a safe environment and confidentiality to perform debrief. Learning outcomes should be revisited in debrief. Facilitators should be adequately trained in debrief.
