CC bond formation reaction is a very important transformation in organic chemistry. 3-Substituted 3-hydroxyl-2-oxindole showing tremendous biological activity. Zinc dust is stable at low temperature, high temperature and room temperature. Zinc has high tolerance of air and moisture easy to handle in the reaction. Clean reaction conditions and an easy workup procedure make this an attractive protocol.
