Myogenic potential of mouse embryonic stem cells lacking functional Pax7 tested in vitro by 5-azacitidine treatment and in vivo in regenerating skeletal muscle
ESCs lacking Pax7 expressed higher levels of factors associated with myogenesis. In vivo Pax7-/- ESCs more efficiently colonized skeletal muscle than control ones. Differentiating Pax7-/- ESCs are more prone to initiate myogenic differentiation.
