We examine the impact of access to workforce skills and human capital on long-run growth and survival for UK high-tech firms. Access to workforce skills and human capital appears to be a prerequisite for growth. Inability to access key managerial skills in early in the life course is associated with long-run inability to grow. Lack of managerial or specialized skills in adolescence is associated with exit, even after high growth
