Organic content of the PIW can be converted in to useful energy. EC process improves the BI (biodegradability index) of the treated wastewater. MFC can be the better treatment option for EC treated wastewater for simultaneous treatment and energy production. Sludge and scum generated during EC treatment process contain significant amount of energy.
