Organo-smectites exhibits high sorption capacities in terms of Mo(VI) and W(VI). Smectite modification improved the sorption of Mo and W. Sorption mechanism involves chemisorption and ion exchange. Mo and W sorption is the most effective in the acidic pH, where toxic forms occur. DDTMA provides the most efficient smectite modification.
