Copper coating adhesion strength depends on plating current density and graphite surface finish. Friction stir soldering is capable of fabricating graphite-copper joints. Heat input has a twofold effect on shear strength of the joints. Intermetallic layer thickness and void generation at interface control mechanical behaviour of the joints.
