A halo phenomenon was always found in many alloys after solidification. Zn-rich halos occurred in Zn-6.3Al alloy under conventional solidification. Zn-rich halos were completely absent under intensive convection solidification. The halo formation was found as a growth-dominant phenomenon. The interaction among solid and liquid phases was responsible for the halo formation.
