Geochemistry and tectonostratigraphy of the basal allochthonous units of SW Iberia (Évora Massif, Portugal): Keys to the reconstruction of pre-Pangean paleogeography in southern Europe
Multi-proxy analysis of SW and NW Iberian allochthons reveals strong similarities. Ediacaran rocks of the basal allochthon represent a single continental margin. Sm–Nd data from metasedimentary rocks suggest provenance from the W African Craton. Deposition took place in a peri-Gondwanan arc system. The tectonostratigraphy of the Évora Massif (SW Iberia) is redefined.
