First randomised trial on the length of therapy in prosthetic joint infection (PJI).
Study included staphylococcal PJI treated with levofloxacin plus rifampicin.
8 weeks of therapy after debridement for staphylococcal PJI may be sufficient.
These results are consistent with those of previous observational studies.
Caution may be required in patients with knee PJI and poor evolution.
