An Al2O3 woodpile structure is prepared via 3D printing and subsequent sintering. The 3D printed Al2O3 catalyst exhibits remarkable efficacy as a Lewis acid in Biginelli and Hantzsch reactions. The optimised protocols enable the efficient, operationally and environmentally friendly synthesis of diverse heterocycles.
