Antiproliferative and ultrastructural effects of phenethylamine derivatives on promastigotes and amastigotes of Leishmania (Leishmania) infantum chagasi
Synthetic phenetylamine derivatives work as leishmanicidal in both evolutive forms. The compounds inhibit growth and may cause several cellular structural effects. The most effective phenetylamine derivative showed a low toxicity to mammal cells. These findings provide new perspectives to study synthetic phenetylamine as a possible drug to treat leishmanioses.
