Medicago prostrata is not of homoploid hybrid origin. Recombinant/introgressed alleles of M. sativa clade only found in 4n M. prostrata. Origin of 4n M. prostrata is autotetraploidy with subsequent introgression. Diploid and tetraploid M. prostrata are cryptically differing species.
