The interactive effect of elevated CO2 and N was studied in papaya seedlings.

High CO2 and N, separately, improved photosynthesis and growth response of papaya.

Elevated CO2 did not lead to stomatal closure of papaya.

Interaction between CO2 and N was significant for total dry matter.

Nitrogen-deficient plants responded better to the CO2 than with good N supply.
