Student laboratory reports have both similarities and differences from research articles. Similar in macro-structure, they share a purpose in reporting experimental methods and results. Reader-writer relationship and purpose differ (student learning vs. making knowledge claims). The pedagogical purpose of laboratory reports is reflected in the move structure.
