Comparisons of computed and measured spray penetrations in vaporizing sprays show agreement within 10%. Semi-empirical soot model is employed to predict soot in diesel and biodiesel sprays. Model predicts reduced soot in biodiesel sprays compared to diesel sprays. Changes in predicted soot in the spray with changes in chamber temperature correlate with flame lift-off height.
