We report Triassic mafic complexes with MORB/OIB affinities from the western Garzê-Litang ophiolitic mélange (central Tibetan Plateau).
Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic data reveal that these rocks were likely derived from depleted MORB-type mantle metasomatized by crustal components or enriched lithospheric mantle metasomatized by OIB-like components.
We propose that a new model involving back-arc basin spreading associated with OIB/seamount recycling could account for geochemical variations of these rocks.
