Acute kidney disease is a leading cause of increased morbidity and mortality among patients with chronic diseases. Biomarkers for kidney disease are inaccurate and non-specific, increasing the time for a first diagnosis of acute conditions In addition, biomarkers for kidney disease not significantly adding to predictive algorithms By proteome analysis (tissue, serum, urine), we identify predominantly renal biomarkers with potential clinical applications; We were able to validate one of the identified markers in human samples from patients with known kidney disease. The identified biomarker dipeptidyl peptidase IV presented a good correlation with other measures of kidney dysfunction.
