Carbon and nitrogen isotope systematics in diamond: Different sensitivities to isotopic fractionation or a decoupled origin?

文摘
Diamond growth is extremely complex, recording multiple events and times of resorption during mantle residence. The diamonds with very negative δ13C values suggests subducted former organic matter as one of the sources of diamond carbon. Rayleigh fractionation can be invoked to explain linear arrays in Log [N] - δ15N space; also observed in individual diamonds. High sensitivity of δ15N and [N] to fractionation, causes the apparent decoupling of δ15N and δ13C for diamonds world-wide.
