We analyzed the effect of manganese on the H2O2 emission of rat heart mitochondria.

Mn2+ increased the H2O2 emission by mitochondrial permeability transition (mPT).

mPT favored H2O2 production from Kreb's cycle oxidoreductases.

In addition, Mn2+ induced H2O2 production at the Q-site of complex II.
