Sugar beet seed treatments with neonicotinoids effectively control most insect pests. Effective alternatives against the highly damaging Myzus persicae are not available. Exposure of non-target organisms via dust drift at sowing or guttation is unlikely. Pests aren't present in every year/field providing possibilities for insecticide reduction. Integrated pest and resistance management concepts are needed.
