3-D FE models were established and verified by the monotonic loading test results. Numerical analysis to solve the complex contact interaction etc in circular CFST column joints was developed. Extensive parameters were explored to study the structural properties of the typed joints. Strengthening methods were discussed to improve the performance of circular CFST column joints.
