Hierarchical TiO2 nanostructures were synthesized on FTO substrate without additives by using hydrothermal approach. Bilayered configuration on hierarchical TiO2 nanostructures was attempted by spin coating SnO2-Ag nanocomposite layer. Plasmon impregnation of Ag in the bilayered structure resulted in increased and red-shifted absorption. Superior photoresponse of the heterostructured and bilayered samples equip them as proficient photoanodes for use in DSSCs.
