The effects of Sn content on the microstructure and the formation mechanism of Ti2SnC powder by pressureless synthesis

Highly phase-pure Ti2SnC powder was synthesized by pressureless synthesis. Four novel morphologies of Ti2SnC particles were observed and analyzed. Both the Sn content and graphite size affect the final morphology of Ti2SnC. The triangular particle stems from the flower-like and bowknot-like particles. The reaction route of 2Ti/1Sn/1C and formation mechanism of Ti2SnC were revealed.
