The inverted flag has three dynamic modes: deflected, flapping and straight.

In the flapping mode, nearly 6 pairs of vortical structures are generated in the wake.

The generated vortical structures affect thermal boundary layers near the heated walls.

The heat transfer is enhanced by a self-oscillating inverted flag in a Poiseuille flow.
