GFP variants induce local and systemic RNA silencing at different rates in plants. eGFP is best for identification of weak RNA silencing suppressors. Slower GFP silencing induction allows discovery of weaker silencing suppressors. LNYV P can suppress systemic silencing when challenged with eGFP but not mGFP5-ER. LNYV P suppresses silencing induced by potent GFP-dsRNA in a dose-dependent manner.
