The surface activity of NEX-n is superior to sodium myristate, less than C12E4. NEX-7 surfactant with longer polyoxyethylene chain has a lower CMC value. The NEX-n surfactants present much richer phase behaviors in H2O at 25 °C. Novel sponge, and reverse cubic phases only appeared in NEX-4/H2O system. The electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bond are key factors for LLC formation.
